I am hoping to try and make my blog more active here in the next month or two. I am hoping to share at least 4 times a week what the kids have been up too. I am looking to showcase some of the educational things that we do as a family, as well as some of the fun things we do together. I would love feedback as I work on this goal.
I have really enjoyed reading other SAHM blogs since having my first child. I love to get inspiration and exciting ideas from other moms. I would love to encourage others in that way! Really excited to see where this takes me and document some of the activities with the kids.

Catch up
So, once again, it has been forever since the last time I have written. My computer broke again, and for the final time. Jeremy had to get me a new computer (and it is pink). But anyway, you are not here to hear about my computer....lets talk the boys. :)
Clayton
Clayton is such a big boy. The last time I wrote I told you about Clayton's constant ear infections. While Jeremy was out of town on work, they performed emergency ear surgery to put tubes in. They wanted to get the tubes in before he got another ear infection, but he ended up having another ear infection by the time they got the tubes in, 3 days later. It was extremely stressful and I was super blessed that both my mom and Jeremy's mom helped out that day! Since getting his tubes put in he is a completely different child. He is so happy and sweet. Before the tubes, to be honest, he was a miserable baby. Always in pain and crying. What a difference it has made!
He is now crawling all over the place and has been since he got his tubes put in. He loves to follow his brother around the house and try and get into whatever Bentley is getting into. he pulls himself up to standing and cruises around the house. he loves to bang and drop toys. He likes to babble but is a little behind on saying dada and mama and they feel that is due to his previous ear infections and the fact that he couldn't hear as well with the infections. He is also sleep trained through the night. He is still nursing, however, we are working on weaning him so that I can enjoy the summer time. He is amazing to watch and he loves hims brother so much!
Bentley
Bentley is such an amazing little boy. He just turned 2 years old. He is so smart, and funny, and strong willed. I def. have my hands full with him. He is working on potty training and is doing pretty well with it. I am trying to do some tot school with him and teach him. Bentley is going through his terrible two's (which is not that terrible). His biggest tantrums occur because he says he wants something (ex. his pants on), so I put his pants on and he decided he wants his pants of and throws a fit, so I take his pants off and he freaks out that the wants his pants on. This continues till I get frustrated and walk off.
He is talking non stop these days and I love it. He tells me when he doesn't like something, or he tells me "no way". He likes to talk about Uncle Dust-y. He tells me what he wants to eat, often blueberries. He also likes to ride his bike and jump around the house. He is so full of life and love. He too loves to take care of his brother and loves to be the big brother and tell his little brother "no, no, no" while shaking his finger at him.
I love these boys.
Next post will be about Bentley's second birthday party! :)

Sickies!
We took Clayton for his six month appointment on Friday, and because Bentley didn't want to feel left out, he got sick. He has been running a fever since Wednesday. Today is Sunday. Not only does he have a fever, he has a runny and bloody nose, and coughing. Sounds pleasant right? The good news is he doesn't have strep and they don't think it is the flu either.
Back to Clayton, our big boy. He is 20 pounds 10 oz. ( Ben is only 24lbs) and is 29 inches long. He is barley fitting in 12 month clothes. The doctor said he looked great and could start table food and juice. He does have an ear infection still, he has had it since before Christmas. They put him on his 3rd round of antibiotics and will re-check his ears in 2 weeks. He also got 4 shots. He has been very grumpy!
This weekend has been spent inside and relaxing. Here is to hoping we get better soon!

Random Thoughts
I am not going to make a New Years Resolution list this year. I feel like in general there is always something I need to work on to be a better person/wife/mommy. Here are some random thoughts I am thinking today:
1. I need to write on my blog more often.
2. I never want to forget when Ben is hungry he says "I eat, I eat".
3. I think we should start a family tradition the first Friday of ever month we should do a movie night. (I haven't ran this by Jeremy). I also understand my children will not sit thought a movie, but even if they only make it 5 mins. I think it would be a nice tradition.
4. There are a lot of things I need to get done around the house but never have time to do them. This must change.
5. Jeremy says we are going to work on sleep training Clayton tonight. We have said this for a long time. We will see if it actually happens.
I am so excited for the amazing year that lies ahead! I can't help but feel blessed. Time to go cuddle up with my boys!

Clayton
Clayton is 5 months old. Last time we went to the doctor he weight 19 pounds 10 ounces. He was 28 inches long. He is huge for his age (cue proud mamma). He is currently sitting up and can almost get on his knees. He already has 2 teeth! He loves to watch his big brother and wants to do anything his brother does. We are so blessed with a second baby boy!

updates
I am going to try to get back into blogging, but it may mean I have to create some smaller post. I realized it helps me remember things about the kiddos.
Since my last post I have had my second child, Clayton Matthew, who will be 4 months old on Thursday. Bentley is almost 19 months old.
Life is so good here at the Marks household! We are looking forward to Halloween in just 2 days!
I will do more in depth post on the boys here in the next couple of days! I have so much to share!

Family Update
Since Bentley's birthday we have been busy...and sick. Jeremy and Ben both had the stomach bug, I managed to miss it. Which is a true blessing with being pregnant and all and the fact that Bentley needed me to take care of him. They now feel better but Ben has caught a cold.
In case you hadn't noticed it is BEAUTIFUL outside the past week. Bentley, Jeremy, Coby, Miley and I have been outside enjoying the weather. Bentley loves to play with rocks and mulch. We have even gotten the chance to play in his water table. We have visited parks but he seems less enthused with playground equipment, he would rather walk around and explore.
As you can tell from statements above Bentley is doing well and very active. So active, as a matter of fact, that he has trouble taking naps now. He had his first swim lesson last night. He really enjoyed playing in the water and loved when we would spin him around. One if the first lessons was blowing bubbles. He tried hard to blow bubbles by sticking his mouth in the water. The instructor was impressed and said typically it takes kids a little longer to be comfortable to even try. He also thought it was hilarious to see us do it. The only downfall, he was so cold (the pool is indoors) his lips turned blue (guess he gets that from mommy). Ben is also becoming more stubborn, we are having to discipline him more.
The baby and I are doing well. He is moving around tons. We still don't have a name for him. We are stuck on two names. One Jeremy likes and one I like. We are both too stubborn to give in. I have been having some aches and pains, especially having a one year old and being pregnant. I depend on Jeremy to help out a little more now. I have also found myself becoming easily frustrated. I don't mean to be this way and it is often with the people I love most.

Bentley's First Birthday
Well, this weekend was a big weekend for us. Bentley turned the big 1 years old. It is hard to believe it has already been a year and this time last year we were just beginning this amazing journey. I was able to keep myself together for MOST of the day.
We threw the big bash here at our house, and while it was a bit crowded I think (and hope) everyone was able to have a good time. I know that Jeremy, Bentley, and I all enjoyed the party and everyone was so kind. Bentley got some really cute clothes and some really awesome toys! He gets excited when he sees his new toys and has seriously played with each and every one of them!
We ended the night at The Homeplace for dinner with Jeremy's mom, Aunts, and Granny who came in from Pittsburgh. I think that is the best birthday dinner a little boy can have. We even gave him a little tea/lemonade mix (I know, I know, bad momma and daddy, but it was a special day and it is the best tea/lemonade ever), which he loved. He even sang his favorite song and talked the entire way up and down the mountain. He was literally squealing with delight before putting him to bed.
I think it was a very successful first birthday! We are very lucky to have such wonderful friends and family. Pictures to come (if you were at the party and took pictures can you please send them to me, we were so busy we did not take any ourselves, once again bad mom and dad)!

Dear Bentley
Dear Bentley:
It is hard to believe a year has passed since the first time
I laid my eyes on you. That day still takes my breath away. Before you, I never
knew I could love someone as much as I love you. You make your Daddy and I
smile each and every day and we are so very blessed to have you. You have been
such a bright spot in our lives and your personality makes everyone around you
happy. You are very outgoing, caring, calm, and curious, and I hope that you always
carry those traits with you. I know this is just the beginning of many more
years of happiness with you in our lives. We love you with all of our hearts! Happy
First Birthday!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy

IT'S A.....
BOY! Yep, that is right another sweet boy for Jeremy and I.
Last night Jeremy and I hosted a gender reveal party. To find out we popped a balloon that had been stuffed with either blue or pink glitter, thanks to a good friend of ours, Kelly Shores. When popped BLUE glitter showered us, and our living room floor.
We are so excited, and now I can't wait to pick a name and meet this baby boy. Which by the way, we are almost half way there!

Update
I haven't written in a while because my computer broke and had to be sent to the shop to get fixed. I am glad I got insurance on it because this is prob the 15th time I have sent it back for one reason or another.
Jeremy and I continue to be awed by Bentley and his personality. He makes us laugh everyday! If you ask him if he is ready to eat he crawls to the refrigerator door and starts babbling. He has clearly connected that the 'fridge is where food comes from. Also, I have been sick with a really bad cold this past weekend (poor Jeremy has it now) and apparently blew my nose a lot, because Ben brought a tissue to me and held it up to my nose for me to blow (I pretended to blow) and he was so proud of himself. Bentley is walking now, although he still crawls some.
We are planning his first birthday and got word that some of his Aunts from Pittsburgh are planning to come down and we are sooo excited to see them! We are also planning a gender reveal party on the 16th for the new baby. We were unsure if we were going to do it, but so many other people were wanting us to, so we decided to do it again. Plus, what could be better than finding out with friends and family, instead of a doctor. We have changed it up a bit this year (so many people have done the cake idea, so we are revealing a different way).
MOMMY FRIENDS: I need some encouragement. Some of you will think I am crazy, but Ben still naps in my arms. If I lay him in his crib he wakes up and doesn't get a nap. I also think it is an addiction for me (seriously). I love this cuddle time! However, he is almost a year old, I am getting ready to have another baby, and my house needs some major attention.....i understand that (but that still doesn't convince me to make the transition). Any suggestions, encouragement? Or am I just crazy? :)
I have been feeling good lately (other than the cold). I still get nauseated sick feeling if I stand too long or get hot, which is odd and very rarely happens. The only other symptom I have been having is I have at times been more emotional than normal (I did not have this with Ben). Mostly when I watch movies, I cry when I typically would not have. The baby moves around a lot, especially after dinner. Ben was sitting on my lap yesterday and the baby kicked him. He did not seem to notice and I am sure it is the first of "get off me's".
I hope to write again soon and tell you all things Ben is liking right now. If anyone needs birthday ideas for Ben please feel free to ask, I know it can be hard because you are not sure if the child already has something (I bought one of Ben's girlfriends something she already had this past weekend). Jeremy or I will be glad to help!

Orange Juice
Okay, I am pretty sure I am not supposed to be giving Bentley orange juice, but here is the deal.....
Bentley loves oranges and orange juice! Every morning I get up, fix myself a large glass of orange juice, sit down on the couch to watch him play and enjoy my morning. Every morning Bentley sits in the floor playing UNTIL he turns around eyes my large glass of orange juice and proceeds to come over and make I want noises and grabbing at my cup until I give in and give him some. This leads to baby slobber in MY orange juice....which leads to me not enjoying MY orange juice. So how do we solve this problem? Yup, break the rules and give him his own sippy cup of orange juice. I don't regret it (maybe I will when the Dr. fusses at me), but for now he is so happy and I am happy as well! Good morning!
P.S.- He is the cutest, sweetest, little boy in the world! No seriously!
P.P.S.- The last several days he has taken several steps on his own in between toys. I think he is finally figuring out that he can walk from one place to another easier than crawl.

15 weeks ad counting
I just got home from my 16 week appointment (although I am still 15 weeks). All was well with baby and me. I am having little burst of energy, which is extremely nice. I have started feeling the baby move, though it is sporadic. I can't believe I am feeling the second baby move, and to be honest it feels like it wasn't that long ago I was feeling Bentley moving around in me.
Speaking of Bentley, I have started planning his birthday party and have been an emotional mess the entire time. I don't want him to turn one. I am ready for time to stop so I can just have him little. I know every age I will enjoy, I am just not ready to move on yet. For those of you coming to his birthday party, I will appologize now. There will be tears.....
Bentley is so amazing. He is doing really well with walking. He has taken several steps here recently and prefers to walk to his cousin Lauren (who he loves). He also prefers to hold one of our hands and walk from place to place. He has learned to point to things he wants, and loves to communicate with me. His favorite thing right now is to headbutt everything because he thinks it is funny and makes people laugh. We are trying to ignore this behavior because he gets carried away with it sometimes. I think it is just typical boy behavior. He also LOVES his daddy. When daddy gets home he gets so excited!

2012
Happy 2012! I know I am a little late (like a week), but we have been busy busy busy. We spent our new years eve at Joe and Yvonne's house and they smoked some fish and did a nice little dinner. We came home put Ben in bed and watched The Help (it was fantastic). The movie ended just in time for us to ring in the new year. I will be honest I cried. 2011 was such an amazing year and God brought us the most amazing little boy! I am excited, of course, for 2012 and adding to our family.
Bentley is really working on walking. He finally will walk around holding on to ONLY one of our hands. Before he was having trouble getting his balance with so little support. This boy is so full of energy and has such a BIG personality. He constantly tries to make his daddy and I laugh by putting clothes and toys on his head. He is very good at pulling out all of his toys to play with. He learned some new words this week: cat, duck. He was already saying: bye, hi, momma, dada, and dog(doggy).
Ben this week has also had some rough days. We noticed he was waking up and wanting to come to bed with us very early in the night. This has become very hard on me since I am having trouble getting comfortable. On Wednesday night we woke up and Bentley was burning up with a fever. The next morning he was fussy and I could tell he was in some pain, so I immediately called the doctor and made an appointment. < By the way I have the most amazing husband ever: he takes time to come to almost all of Bentley's doctors appointments, I have never met a more involved father>. Bentley has an ear infection. That night his fever got up to 103.6. Needless to say he was very sick. Last night we had a rough night because he cried in pain for 1hr 1/2. We took him back to the doctor today and she said his infection was just really bad but he is getting better. He is also dehydrated, so he gets some delicious yummy drink to try and help him stay hydrated. I am hoping he is on the mend considering he has been asleep (for a nap) since 3 and it is 6.
I have started to have more energy. I am showing a lot and already in maternity jeans. I sometimes think I feel the baby move, however, it is still pretty early for that. I have been having some cravings for sour candy. On Tuesday I will be 14 weeks! :)

Christmas Time
Christmas was amazing, no....beyond amazing. Jeremy and I are truly blessed! The activities started off with a trip to the doctor for me. In case you missed the announcement, Jeremy and I are expecting another baby on July 10th. We were able to see the baby and the heartbeat and I am 12 weeks tomorrow. It seems as though everything is going well. Ben is really too young to understand what is going on, but we have been talking to him about the baby in my belly and I am pretty sure the baby knows he is there as he likes to climb all over me. I have been feeling pretty well, I have had some indigestion, food aversions, and I have been very tired. However, nothing to awful. I am definitely already showing, which is a change from my pregnancy with Bentley. However, it is to be expected with having two so close together. For those of you trying to do the math, Bentley and the new baby will be approximately 16 months apart. We had planned to have our children close together. Jeremy was raised with his brothers close in age and it was such a good experience for him, although it will definitely be harder on me. Jeremy and I are very excited!
Next, we enjoyed a very nice dinner at Jason and Cari's house. It was so nice to have all the Mark's together (and Cari's parents). The food was phenomenal, right down to the home made (and hand picked) blackberry pie I had. We spent time as a family chatting and enjoying ourselves before heading home.
The next day (Christmas Eve) was filled with family and more family. We spent some time at my parents house eating a delicious lunch and opening presents from my grandmother. Then we visited Jeremy's parents for a little quite chatting with Aunt Liz and Uncle Tom. Then, back to my parents house to open presents from my Aunt and Uncle, which my Aunt painted Bentley a step stool (one of the many amazing presents Ben got for Christmas). I will have to post pictures of him using it soon. I was exhausted (remember the pregnancy thing). Jeremy and I exchanged presents and headed to bed.
Christmas day started early. We opened Bentley's Santa presents before heading to my parents house to open family presents. My mother and father make a great breakfast for everyone. I wish I had a picture of the presents under the Christmas tree that day, we have a big family and the presents take up half of the floor. We really enjoyed watching the kids open their presents. Next, we headed to the Mark's for lots of family time by the fire. We ate a large dinner. Bentley passed out half way through the present opening. What a wonderful day.
Monday, we headed to the lake to visit our friends Nick, Meg, and their baby daughter Jordan. She was beautiful and I wish I would have taken some pictures of her. We also got to spend some time with my cousins who are in from Colorado.
Needless to say, we are exhausted and are trying to rest up before daddy has another long weekend. Like I said, we are so very blessed and are so thankful for everything people have done for Bentley this season. He is such an amazing child and fills mine and Jeremy's life with so much joy.
P.S.- Santa brought Ben his 4th top tooth!

Likes and Dislikes
I have noticed that Ben has become very opinionated lately.
Likes
- Dogs- he LOVES dogs
- Momma and Dada- He seeks us out if we are not with him. It takes Daddy a little longer to get ready in the mornings because Bentley is all over him.
- the couch- he loves to play on the couch and throws a fit when we put him down.
- girls- he went to a wedding recently when some girls that were about 9-12 age came by....he jumped out of my arms and gave them big kisses...the girls were flattered. I think we have a ladies man on our hands.
- sleeping in his own bed, all night long
- climbing- he loves to climb on everything,I think it makes him feel like a big boy
- crawling- this is his preferred mode of transportation
- food- of all kinds, he eats anything
- water- he gets excited when he gets a cup of water to drink
Dislikes
- getting dressed/diaper changed- he screams the entire time, you would think I was killing him.
- his carseat- arches back and cries every time
- getting off the couch- he prefers to play on the couch
- walking- he has taken a few steps and doesn't mind even walking if i am holding BOTH hands, but if I try to just hold one, he loses it. He would rather crawl.
- naps- he thinks they are useless, who needs a nap when you can play all day? (Mamma, that is who)
- pictures- it is not that he doesn't like pictures it is just impossible to get him to sit still long enough. Yet we are going today to have some professional pictures made of him and taking him to see Santa, this should be interesting
On another note he has started saying some words (we aren't really sure that he knows what they mean). He says mama/dada/doggie/ca(coby)/my (miley)/goo (good)/yeah. Like I said most of them are in babbling. We will say, "say good ben" and he will say goo.

The Holiday Season...
Oh how I love the holiday season....there is so much to look forward too. This Christmas is extra special, because it is Bentley's first. We have started off the season with decorating the house. We actually put lights up this year and we covered our upstairs living/dining/kitchen with paper snowflakes Jeremy made when he was younger. We also took Ben to the Christmas parade. He wasn't overly excited but did watch most of it. He fell asleep a few minutes before Santa came. This upcoming weekend we are going to watch my nephew and niece sing at church, then during the week we go watch my other nephew play in his band concert. Daddy has a bunch of days to take off work, so we are using one of those days to go see Santa!
Bentley has had a rough month with being sick but is feeling better. Let's hope he stays better. He has been so funny lately. He is practicing standing and can stand without holding on to things for a little while. He actually took 2 steps the other night not holding on to anything. He loves to wave to people and even says "hiiiiiiii" or "byyyyyye". He is going to be walking and talking soon.

Thanksgiving
So the week before Thanksgiving we took Bentley to the doctor for an upper respiratory infection. He was put on antibiotics and was feeling much better by the time Thanksgiving rolled around. We enjoyed Thanksgiving lunch with my family and dinner with Jeremy's family. To say we were stuffed would be an understatement. So much delicious food and so much to be thankful for. I really do have so much to be thankful for. My top 5 things:
1. My wonderful family. Jeremy, Bentley, my family and Jeremy's family.
2. My doggies. Although they are not the most well behaved dogs. I am thankful my husband allows me to have them and that they are not sitting in an animal shelter. I also love that my son LOVES dogs!
3. A roof over my head.
4. That I am a stay at home mom. I get to love on my son all day long and never have to miss a first. He is such a happy boy as well.
5. That my husband has a good job so that I can be a stay at home mom.
Little man is sleeping in my arms, he has had a fever of 101 all day. Looks like tomorrow we will be headed back to the doctor!

MIA
Sorry I have been MIA...my computer crashed, so I have been using Jeremy's computer, which never stays connected to the internet for long.
Things have been good here (minus the computer crash). We enjoyed our first Halloween with Bentley and being parents. It makes the holidays so much more special when your a parent (I cannot wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas). Bentley dressed up in a monkey costume, and really seemed to enjoy being dressed up. He didn't fight the hood or outfit at all. We went to school to visit Yvonne and stopped by some family members houses before landing in our neighborhood at my parents house and our house. We had dinner with my family and then Joe, Yvonne, Dusty,Danielle, and Sawyer came over. It was the perfect day (Jeremy had also taken the whole day off to hang out with us).
Bentley is such a fast crawler and a curious little boy. You can see his mind working as he plays and I enjoy watching him. He loves to climb over and under things. He even pushes toys around so he can climb on them to get where he wants to go. He has also started pointing his hand in the directions of things he wants trying to communicate with us. When he wants something his arm goes up by his head, in the direction of what he wants, and he makes grabbing motions with his hand (it is really cute). I cannot believe he is 8 months old! Shew, time flies when you are having fun.
I a taking a cake decorating class for the next month, every Monday for 2 hours in the evening. Just a way for me to get out of the house since I am home all day, and I would love to be able to make some neat cakes for Bentley on his birthday!
Jeremy's Grandpap is moving down from Pittsburgh either today or tomorrow. I must say the family is excited that he will be around and we will get to see him more often! I really think he will enjoy spending time with Bentley and Sawyer. We are so blessed that he will be around more often!
Well...looks like I better go chase Ben around the house...he is trying to give the dogs a treat right now!

Rainly Day Fun and Pumpkin Patch
This past week was a little rainy. We spent most of the days inside snuggling. After 2 to 3 days of rain what are you going to do with a child to keep him entertained? That is right, build a tent. So, out came the blankets and we made a good ol' fort right in the middle of the living room (I might need to brush up on my fort building techniques...as I have not made one since I was little). Ben had a great time sitting under it and playing with his toys, it was like it made each toy new again and he did not want to come out from under it. See pictures below!
This weekend the weather cleared up and we headed to the pumpkin patch for a little October fun. I have been looking forward to this event since I was pregnant last year. We drove out to Sinkland farms which is a beautiful farm that offers weddings, horseback rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, pumpkins, corn mazes, hay rides, and yummy food. While some of these things we will have to wait for Bentley to be older (like the horseback riding), other things were a lot of fun. He enjoyed walking through the toddler maze, the petting zoo, hay ride, and even got to pick out his own pumpkin and he loves butternut squash so we even bought him one to eat. The weather was beautiful but a little windy. It was the perfect way to spend the Saturday!
